The AACGC Game List plugin allows you to display categories of games on your website with icons, details, videos, and external links. Users can interact with the game list by rating, commenting, and adding themselves to the games they play. Comes with several menus for showing the categories, games, users, and a showcase menu for displaying everything in one. This plugin has tons of options so you can adjust it to best fit your website and needs. This plugin also works with many other AACGC plugins that add to the details and together they all can make one huge gaming information center. Uses dynamic expanding sections in game detail pages to save room and give the pages a flashy interface. This plugin can be used as a main website feature for displaying hundreds of games in different categories for gaming sites and communities or it can be used for clans to show what games they play.

This plugin can be difficult to setup and get working properly. There are tons of settings to adjust almost everything about this plugin and if some settings are missing or not set correctly you may experience errors, glitches, or layout problems. Please feel free to ask for help in the AACGC Forums.
You must have at least one category created before you can start adding games. First in your e107 admin area click the AACGC Game List Icon under plugins. Then click Create Category on the side menu and enter the name of the category you want. You can also add details for the category in the box below the category name, this can be used to explain what games are listed but it is not required to create a category, only the category name is required. Then click Add Category and you can start adding games to that category.
To add games click the AACGC Game List icon in your e107 admin area under plugins, then click Add Game on the side menu and follow the steps below for filling in each section. You must upload your own game icons before adding games.
Enter the name of the game you are adding, the game name will show above the icons on all areas of the site. If using small areas then best to use the first letter of each word in the game rather than spelling out the entire game name, Ex. Battlefield Bad Company 2 you would list as BFBC2 to save room.
Choose an icon that will be used for this game, click the Show Icons button to display all the icons in the folder or type out the name of the icon in the space provided. You must upload icons to the icon folders before adding a game.
Type out details about the game your adding, can use information such as wiki for that game or copy info from the game site. The details section can have an unlimited amount of text added and also supports HTML coding.
There are 3 options for adding external links for each game. Each link can be named and opens in a new window so user don't leave your site. You must type the full url including http even if the link points to a page within your site. Mostly used to link to the games offical site, forums, or other site related to that game.
The video option allows you to use the embed code to post a video preview for each game such as you tube video. Just copy and paste any HTML embed code and paste in this area, if a video code is present then a View Video button will appear on that games detail page next to the external links for users to view the expanding video section.
Game Marks are special indicators that appear next to a game on all areas of the site that can be used to show that certain games are different than others. Example if listing free games and non free games you can create a Free Game mark and mark all free games, then they will show a special indicator showing users that game is free.
In the AACGC Gamelist admin area, click Create Mark on the side menu and type out the name of the mark your creating (Free Game, Online Only, Pay to Play). Then click Show icons and click to choose an icons for that mark. The icon you choose will show next to each game you mark, you can add different marks by uploading images to the marks folder inside the aacgc_gamelist directory. Each mark you create will be listed in a legend at the top of the game list page so users can see what each mark means.
To mark a game click Mark Game on the side menu and choose from the dropdown list of games you added and click the game you wish to mark. Then choose a mark from the second dropdown list of marks you created and click the mark you want that game to have. Then click the Mark Game button.
The settings of this plugin is the most important section, as mentioned above difficult for some to get right, and is best if you have at least 1 category and 1 game created before trying to adjust the settings. The Settings control everything such as looks, layout, functions, etc. execpt for the Game Showcase, the Showcase has it's own settings that are explained below. There are tons of settings here to adjust everything about the Game List and the most common problems accur because users leave them blank. You must go thru the settings and fill in everything or you may have problems. Setting up this plugin requires a little time and effort and all depends on what your using the Game List for, if using it as a main feature of your site listing hundreds of games then it will be setup completly different than a clan site listing just a few games that their clan plays. We cannot give any specific advice on how to setup this plugin, best we can say here is work with it till you are satified with the looks, layout, and functions, but no matter what do NOT leave any image, font size, row counts, or other settings blank! Some setting examples are below for areas users have the most common problems.
To start out, you can set all image sizes to 125px. this way you will at least see the game icons and images and can further increase or decrease the size to best fit your site. If the size settings are blank no images will show at all and some users mistake this as something wrong with the plugin when all they needed was to enter a size for the images.
Same goes for font sizes as well, these you can set anywhere from 1 to 3. 1 for game details and 3 for game titles and category titles. you can change this later to best for your site, reason we say 1 to 3 is because font size is much different than image size, 3 is pretty big and the lower the user resolution the bigger the text. most never use higher than 3. If font sizes are left blank no text will appear like images mentioned above.
If your theme has the option for custom pages (listing pages with no side menus) then it might be best to add all the game list pages to the custom pages in your theme.php so it has the most room for showing games and info. If side menus are being used then you may have to limit the icons per row and icon sizes to keep from stretching your website.
Icon Path Settings
This option is mainly for those who are listing alot of games on a site. Choose the folder that each section will look in for the game icon. Note you must have icons with the same name in all icon folders that you choose. The purpose for using seperate folders is to allow you to use large images for game detail pages and smaller thumbnail images for menus, list pages, and admin areas to icrease loading speeds. You must resize your images how you wish and upload them into the correct folders.
Example: most game icons are default of 256x256 at 100KB - 150KB, these would go in the icons folder. You can resize the same icons to 100x100 and they would be about 10KB - 30KB and put them in the icons_small folder and select below for menus and list page to load from the icons_small folder. This will greatly increas the loading speeds for those page when alot of games are listed. You can match the size of the icons in the Main Settings area.
You have 3 folders to choose from for 3 different icon sizes:
icons - (256x256) (100KB-150KB)
icons_med - (150x150) (50KB-100KB)
icons_small - (100x100) (10KB-50KB)
You must resize and upload icons yourself to each folder.
You can take this option a step further by using different images for menus and pages but the images MUST have the exact same name. Example is using a small round game icon (bfbc2.png) for menus then for Game Detail pages you can use large game wallpaper images with the same name (bfbc2.png). You would upload the small round icons to the icons_small folder and upload the game wallpapers to the icons folder and select icons_small for menus then icons for detail pages.
